
KATHMANDU: Pokhara Thunders secured a spot in the Nepal Super League (NSL) playoffs with a 2-0 win over Butwal Lumbini FC at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
With the victory, Pokhara climbed to third place on the table with eight points from six matches. Butwal Lumbini, on the other hand, concluded its campaign winless, managing just one point from the same number of matches.
Pokhara joins Dhangadhi FC and Lumbini City FC in the playoffs. Kathmandu Rayzrs and FC Chitwan are in contention for the final playoff berth.
Ayush Ghalan opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a header from Samir Tamang’s cross. William Biassi doubled the lead in the 59th minute, converting a corner delivered by Nawayug Shrestha.
Lalitpur FC will face Jhapa FC on Wednesday, while Dhangadhi FC takes on Chitwan FC on Thursday. A win or draw will secure Chitwan’s spot in the playoffs, while a loss will see Kathmandu Rayzrs qualify for the playoffs.
