PM Shah holds discussion with lawmakers from Bagmati

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Monday held discussions with members of the House of Representatives elected from Bagmati Province.

The meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers focused on programs that can be implemented within the current fiscal year 2025/26, as well as long-term infrastructure development, agriculture, tourism, health, education, good governance, and various social sector issues, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

During the meeting, Ashika Tamang, a lawmaker from Dhading-1, called for the implementation of a modern waste management system in Sisdol and Bancharedanda, effective monitoring of the “green sticker” system to control vehicular pollution, and the introduction of a special education package for the Chepang and Tamang communities. She also stressed the need to prioritize the construction of the Sitapaila–Dharke alternative road.

Similarly, Yubaraj Dulal from Sindhupalchowk-2 urged the government to bring laws for monkey control, protect vulnerable settlements along the Melamchi and Indrawati riverbanks, and resolve payment issues related to the Melamchi Drinking Water Supply Project.

Likewise, Badan Kumar Bhandari from Kavre-2 requested the government to move forward with the Sunkoshi-3 reservoir project, develop Dhulikhel as the capital of Bagmati Province, expand the Araniko Highway into four lanes, and establish a constitutional-level specialized hospital in Panchkhal.

Also speaking on the occasion, Chitwan-1 lawmaker Hari Dhakal proposed to develop a safari route with a cycle lane along the Rapti River, construct a high dam for irrigation expansion, and implement an online ticketing system in Sauraha.

Kathmandu-4 lawmaker Pukar Bam called for implementation of the Pashupati Area master plan, the creation of a “National Budget Dashboard” to enhance transparency, and the introduction of an Integrated Infrastructure Development Act. He also highlighted the need to advance the construction of a flyover in Chabahil.

Ramechhap lawmaker Dr Krishna Hari Budhathoki urged the government to address out-migration from the district, create employment opportunities, prioritize the Thoshe Shivalaya reservoir project, and complete stalled road projects on time.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Shah expressed commitment to gradually implement the issues raised by lawmakers based on budget availability and priority.
