PM Oli reaches New York

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli reached New York Friday night leading a Nepali delegation to participate in the 79th United Nations General Assembly.

Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Lok Bahadur Thapa welcomed Prime Minister Oli and other members of the delegation at JFK International Airport. Nepal’s acting ambassador to the US Kumar Kharel and officials of the Permanent Mission were also present on the occasion.

PM Oli is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on September 26. He is scheduled to an event organized by Nepali organizations in New York on Sunday.

According to the foreign ministry, PM Oli will address the Conference of the Global Coordination Bureau of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs). Nepal is the incumbent chair of the bureau.

Moreover, he is also scheduled to speak at Columbia University and Harvard University on Nepal’s journey of democracy and economic prosperity, and Nepal’s perspective on transitional justice to climate justice, respectively.
