BANGKOK: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has arrived in Thailand for an official visit and to participate in the 6th BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Summit.

Prime Minister Oli arrived at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 6:15 pm (local time) on Tuesday. He was received in the VIP lounge by Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Minister of Culture and Sports Sorawong Thienthong, Nepal’s Ambassador to Thailand Dhan Bahadur Wali, and Thailand’s Ambassador to Nepal, Sawapong Sirisorn.

PM Oli is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on Wednesday.

This marks the first official visit by a Nepali Prime Minister to Thailand.

PM Oli’s spouse Radhika Shakya, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Economic and Development Advisor to the PM Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, and other senior officials are in the Nepali delegation.
