PM Oli discusses stadium upgrade plan with CAN officials, cricketers

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed commitment to initiate efforts to transform the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur into an international-level cricket stadium.

Oli discussed the development and expansion of cricket, players and related aspects during a meeting with the officials of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and cricket enthusiasts on Sunday.

“We held a discussion about the cricket stadium with CAN officials, players and cricket enthusiasts. We believe this will make it easier to expedite the construction of the stadium,” Prime Minister Oli said in a social media post. “I am excited after today’s breakfast meeting.”

Upgrading TU International Cricket Stadium into an international-standard facility was the first decision taken by the Oli cabinet.
