KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has secured a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives.

The CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman received 268 votes in the 275-member parliament. A total of 270 lawmakers were present in Monday’s meeting of the lower house.

Only two lawmakers – Chitra Bahadur KC of Rastriya Jana Morcha and Prem Suwal and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party- voted against Dahal.

Dahal, who made a claim to government formation with the support of 169 lawmakers of the seven-party ruling coalition, has won the support of even the main opposition Nepali Congress.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari had appointed Dahal to the post on December.
As per Article 76(4) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015, he was required to get confidence vote from the parliament within 30 days.
