KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has passed the floor test.
A total of 157 lawmakers voted in favor of Dahal’s Motion of Confidence. Out of 268 lawmakers who participated in the voting on Wednesday, 110 voted against the motion while one lawmaker abstained.
Lawmakers of the ruling coalition – CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), and CPN (Unified Socialist) – as well as Nagarik Unmukti and few independent lawmakers voted in favor of Dahal’s Motion of Confidence.
Nepali Congress, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, among others, voted against the proposal.
Dahal decided to undergo a floor test after Nepali Congress withdrew its support following the formation of a new ruling alliance. Dahal ditched Nepali Congress and formed a new alliance with CPN-UML, RSP, JSP, and Unified Socialist.
This is the third time that Prime Minister Dahal has undergone a floor test after the 2022 election. He has passed the test on all three occasions.
