KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal met CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal at the former’s office in Singhadurbar on Wednesday.
Dahal invited Nepal to a meeting a few hours after the latter stated that his party would not join the coalition government solely for Dahal’s sake.
Nepal is reportedly upset with Dahal for abandoning the Nepali Congress-led five-party alliance in favor of joining forces with CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli to lead the government. This is why Dahal is making efforts to bring the Unified Socialist party into the seven-party ruling alliance.
CPN-UML, on the other hand, has adopted a strategy of uniting with the Unified Socialist party. Leaders of these two parties have held several rounds of meetings to this end.
Dahal is scheduled to take a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on January 10 and aims to include the Unified Socialist in the government before that.
