PM Dahal invites NC leaders for discussion

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has called the leaders of the main opposition, Nepali Congress (NC), for discussions.

According to NC General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, Dahal has called the NC leaders for a meeting at 6 pm on Friday. “We will attend the meeting,” Thapa said.

Dahal called the NC leaders for a meeting hours after other opposition parties backed NC’s call for the formation of a parliamentary inquiry panel to probe cooperation fraud allegations against Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane.

NC held a meeting with opposition parties – Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Loktantrik Samajbadi Party and Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal (JSP Nepal) earlier on Friday. After the meeting, Thapa said all opposition parties have backed the demand for the parliamentary inquiry panel.

Since all opposition parties now have a common view on the formation of a parliamentary panel, the ruling parties are under pressure to probe allegations against Lamichhane.
