KATHMANDU: The government has announced a cash prize of Rs 200,000 for the Nepali squad that recently won the ICC World Cricket League-2 tri-series against Scotland and Namibia.
Meeting the squad members at his official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal announced the cash prize stating that it would motivate players to perform even better.
Nepal defeated Scotland and Namibia twice in the tri-series to earn its first-ever clean sweep in the WCL-2.
“Nepal has made its name in the world cricket in a very short period of time. It is a matter of pride for Nepal and Nepali people,” he told the cricketers.
Nepal is leaving for Dubai next week to play a tri-series against UAE and Papua New Guinea in the tri-series. It will then host UAE and Papua New Guinea in Kathmandu in its final series of the tri-series in the second week of March.
