PLP to have a seven-member presidium

KATHMANDU: The Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party (PLP), formed after the unification of the Dr Baburam Bhattarai-led Nepal Samajbadi Party (Naya Shakti), Janadarshan Sharma-led Pragatisheel Abhiyan, and Santosh Pariyar of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has announced that it will have a seven-member presidium.

According to Krishna Sharma, the spokesperson for the Nepal Samajbadi Party (Naya Shakti), the presidium will include Pariyar, Sudan Kirati, Durga Sob, and representatives of Madheshi and Gen Z, among others.

Pariyar will serve as the first Chairperson of the party, according to Sharma.

Similarly, the party will have a 151-member Central Committee. Dr Bhattarai will be the patron of the party, while its Policy Council will comprise leaders such as Janardan Sharma and Ram Karki.

The party is being formally announced on Sunday.

According to Sharma, the Ashok Rai-led Janata Samajbadi Party is set to unify with the PLP on Monday.
