KATHMANDU: Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has suspended a helicopter pilot who landed his chopper on a football ground while a match was underway.
CAAN Spokesperson Jagannath Niraula said Ranesh Dangol of Prabhu Helicopters has been suspended for questioning. “We felt the need to question the pilot why it was necessary to land the chopper on the football ground without seeking permission. That is why he has been suspended,” said Niraula.
A video of the chopper landing on the football ground in Waling, Syangja, had become viral on social media last week. A match of Waling Gold Cup was underway when the chopper landed on the field.
After realizing that the helicopter had landed on the football field without any emergency, the locals had even manhandled the pilot.
