KATHMANDU: The Special Court has sentenced Bikal Paudel, a former executive director of the Security Printing Center (SPC), to eight years in prison.
A division bench of Special Court Chairperson Tek Narayan Kunwar and Members Tulsi Prasad Tharu and Ritendra Thapa determined the quantum of punishment for Paudel and then executive director Shrstha on Thursday. The bench had convicted Paudel and Shrestha on October 30.
Paudel and Shrestha have been sentenced to eight years in prison and handed a fine of Rs 34.22 million.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a corruption case against former Chief Secretary Dr Baikuntha Aryal, Paudel, Shrestha and nine others on May 22, alleging irregularities in the procurement of excise duty stickers. The constitutional anti-graft body had sought claims of Rs 386.72 million from the defendants.
