Pathibhara Cable Car: 13 injured as protesters clash with police

KATHMANDU: As many as 13 individuals were injured in clashes between police and people opposing the construction of a cable car in the Pathibhara Temple (Mukkumlung) area of Taplejung on Thursday.

According to the District Police Office, Taplejung, 11 police personnel, one protester, and one civilian were injured in the clash.

The clash occurred when supporters of the No Cable Car Campaign tried to enter the cable car construction site during their march in the Pathibhara Temple area.

Police said they had to fire seven rounds of tear gas shells after the protesters became unruly.

Before the march began, a corner meeting was held in the Upper Phedi area of Pathibhara. Pro-identity leader Dukendra Singh Thegim and Chairperson of the Rastriya Mukti Party-Nepal, Rajendra Mahato, addressed the gathering. During their speeches, they opposed the construction of the cable car at the religious site.
