Passenger bus plunges into Koshi barrage

ITAHARI: A passenger bus plunged into the Koshi Barrage in Sunsari district on Thursday.

SP Bipin Regmi of the District Police Office, Sunsari, confirmed that a bus heading to Gaighat veered off the road from the No. 35 gate of the barrage and fell into the river late Thursday afternoon. “The bus was en route to Udayapur from Biratnagar. Twenty passengers have been rescued successfully,” Regmi said. “We are yet to determine the exact number of passengers on board.”

Regmi said rescue work is underway.
