KATHMANDU: Political parties have finalized the terms of reference (ToR) of the parliamentary inquiry panel that is being formed to probe the alleged involvement of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane in the misappropriation of cooperative deposits.
A meeting of the task force held on Tuesday morning finalized the ToR.
Earlier, the ruling and opposition parties were divided over including the name of Deputy PM Lamichhane in the ToR. While the Nepali Congress (NC) was insisting that Lamichhane should be named in the ToR, ruling parties were against it.
The task force reached an understanding to name the concerned cooperatives and Gorkha Media Network instead of Lamichhane in the ToR.
The inquiry panel will have a three-month tenure. It will include two members each from Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, and one members each from CPN (Maoist Center), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
A meeting of the House of Representatives to be held on Tuesday will form the parliamentary inquiry panel.
The task force under Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Padam Giri, was formed to forge a consensus on the ToR of the task force. UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula, NC Joint General Secretary Jivan Pariyar, and Shishir Khanal of RSP were in the task force.
