KATHMANDU: Parsa District Court has issued an arrest warrant for 14 individuals, including Rabi Lamichhane, for investigation into alleged misappropriation of savings from Birgunj-based Sano Paila Cooperatives.
The distirct court on Wednesday authorized the police to arrest Lamichhane, who is the President of Rastriya Swatantra Party and former Deputy Prime Minister, as well as former DIG Chhabilal Joshi and 13 others.
Police are investigating the transfer of funds from the cooperative to Gorkha Media Network. Lamichhane served as the managing director of the media company, whie Joshi was a director.
A source at the District Police Office, Parsa, said Rs 80 million was transferrd to the media company from Sano Paila cooperatives.
Lamichhane and Joshi are currently in the custody of District Police Office, Kaski. Police in Rupandehi, Kathmandu and Chitwan are also investigating their role in misappopriation of coopreative funds.
