KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Special Investigation Committee on Misuse of Cooperative Savings has taken statements from Joint General Secretary of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Bipin Acharya.
Acharya previously worked as a Creative Director at Gorkha Media Network – a company promoted by Gitendra Babu (GB) Rai, who is currently on the run. RSP President Rabi Lamichhane was the Managing Director of the company.
The committee had planned to take a statement from RSP Chairman Lamichhane as well on the day. However, the agenda changed due to an increase in the number of witnesses implicated during other testimonies, according to a member of the committee.
Investigations have shown deposits parked by people in Surya Darshan Saving and Credit Cooperatives of Pokahra and Supreme Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Butwal were invested in the media company.
Acharya has been accused of using money withdrawn from these cooperatives not only for Gorkha Media Network but also for personal purposes.
