KATHMANDU: A parliamentary hearing on Krishna Man Pradhan, who has been recommended for appointment as the Election Commissioner, scheduled for Thursday has been postponed.
According to a member of the hearing committee, the hearing has been postponed as the committee has realized that more time is needed to study the complaints filed against Pradhan. The committee on Wednesday held discussions with those who filed complaints against Pradhan.
A woman has claimed in one of the complaints that Pradhan forced her to withdraw a sexual harassment case by paying Rs 12.5 million. She has reportedly included copies of checks for the amount issued by Pradhan along with her complaint.
A meeting of the Constitutional Council held on June 16 recommended Pradhan for appointment as the Election Commissioner.
