KATHMANDU: The parliamentary hearing on ambassadors nominated for 17 countries has begun.
The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee of the federal complaint on Tuesday issued a public notice requesting one and all to file complaints, if any, against the 18 nominated for ambassadorial appointments.
The senior-most member of the committee, Pashupati Shamsher JBR, said 10 days has been set for filing complaints.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent the names of the proposed ambassadors to the Federal Parliament Secretariat for the hearing on Sunday. A cabinet meeting held on July 29 had recommended ambassadors for 17 countries.
The government has recommended former Deputy Speaker Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe for South Korea, former Chief Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi for the US, former Secretary Chandra Chimire for the UK, Krishna Prasad Oli for China, Dr Shankar Sharma for India, Dr Netra Prasad Timsina for Malaysia, Naresh Bikram Dhakal for Saudi Arabia, Dhana Prasad Pandit for Israel and Kapil Shrestha for South Africa.
Likewise, Dr Shail Rupakheti has been recommended for Germany, Kanta Rijal for Australia, Sanil Nepal for Spain, Ram Krishna Bhattarai for Sri Lanka, Prakash Mani Paudel for Portugal, Rita Dhital for Pakistan, Sumnima Tuladhar for Denmark and Jangab Chauhan for Russia.
