KATHMANDU: Gopi Chandra Parki, the winner of the 9th Dhara Nepalgunj Marathon, will participate in the 2024 TCS London Marathon.
The organizers of the Nepalgunj Marathon said in a press meet on Monday that Parki’s participation in the TCS London Marathon has been confirmed.
Speaking at the press meet, Parki said the Nepalgunj Marathon has always been lucky for him. “I will work hard to bring the best results in the London Marathon,” he added.
Nepal Run, UK is taking care of all the management and logistics issues for Parki’s participation in the London Marathon.
Santosh Rai of Nepal Run said they will help secure participation for the winners of the full and half marathon of the Nepalgunj Marathon in the London Marathon.
On the occasion, Tanka Lal Ghising, the member secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC), said the NSC has accorded high priority to marathons run in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Nepalgunj.
Parki completed the Nepalgunj Marathon on November 25 with a timing of 2 hours 21 minutes and 38 seconds. He also won the gold medal in the marathon at the 13th South Asian Games (SAG).
Around 48,000 participants completed their race in the 2023 London Marathon. The race this year will be held on April 21.
