KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Devraj Chalise has said that engaging in parallel activities would not do justice to the party.
In a social media post, Chalise said differences of opinion and dissent are natural in a democratic party and help strengthen institutional decision-making. “However, when such disagreements move beyond internal dialogue and take the form of self-centred, parallel activities, they begin to harm the party,” he said.
His remarks come as a gathering of Central Working Committee members elected by the party’s 14th general convention, who are close to former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, kicked off in Kathmandu on Tuesday. According to leaders, the gathering will review the party’s performance in the March 5 elections and discuss the date for the 15th General Convention.
The group had held a gathering with lawmakers elected from the party on Monday.
Chalise also urged leaders and cadres to focus on winning the confidence of party members through clear plans, strong arguments, and positive energy, especially with the general convention approaching. “The path to leadership is open as per the party statute,” he said, urging all members to abide by party discipline.
“Let us move forward in a way that our actions today do not leave us ashamed tomorrow,” he wrote.
