KATHMANDU: The government has formed a committee to study and recommend measures for restructuring the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse).
A cabinet meeting decided to form the ‘NEPSE Restructuring Recommendation Committee, 2025’ under the leadership of Prakash Jung KC, according to Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel.
According to Kharel, the cabinet meeting also decided to accept nearly $5 million in assistance from the Norwegian government to support governance at the provincial and local levels. Similarly, it also decided to accept $2.1 million in Swiss government assistance.
Similarly, the government has decided to provide immediate relief of Rs 15,000 each to those injured in the Gen Z protests of September 8 and 9. According to Minister Kharel, a total of 2,429 individuals will receive the relief amount.
The meeting also decided to recommend to the President to issue an ordinance to amend the Nepal Special Service Act, 1987.
In addition, the cabinet has fixed trekking permit fee for foreign nationals visiting Upper Mustang at $50 per person per day, or an equivalent amount in foreign currency. It has decided to amend Schedule 12 of the Immigration Rules, 1994, to change the permit fee.
So far, trekkers have been required to pay a permit fee for a minimum of 10 days, even if they visit the area for a shorter duration.
The cabinet also decided to appoint Dr Kalpana Kumari Shrestha as the Executive Director of the Shahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Center.
