KATHMANDU: CPN–UML Vice-Chairperson Surendra Pandey has said that the law should clearly state that no one can lead a political party for more than two terms.
“Since this is a political question, it requires a legal and constitutional remedy. The solution is to introduce a legal provision stating that a person cannot become party chair more than twice,” Pandey said, speaking at an interaction on the party’s upcoming 11th general convention, in Kathmandu, on Monday.
He added that this problem has begun to surface not only in old parties but also in newly formed ones. “Newly formed parties are also facing the same issue. The leaders who have risen now also do not want to relinquish the chair,” Pandey said.
