KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu marked the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan with a flag hoisting ceremony at its Chancery in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi unfurled the national flag amid a ceremony attended by the Pakistani community in Kathmandu, Nepali friends and embassy officials, a statement issued by the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu.
The messages of Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read out during the ceremony.
In his address, Ambassador Hashmi paid tribute to the historic struggle of 1947 and the sacrifices of the
nation’s forefathers. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to upholding peace in the region.
