KATHMANDU: Pakistan has reached the final of the SAFF Men’s U-19 Football Championship for the first time, defeating Bhutan in a sudden-death penalty shootout at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
After both sides failed to score goals in regulation time, the match went to a penalty shootout. Muhammad Adeel Younas, Shahjahan, Ali Zafar, Khurshid Alam, Muhammad Sadam, and Kamil Ahmed Khan scored for Pakistan. Similarly, Kinzang Tenjing, Jigme Namgyal, Rinjin Dorje, Ugen Dorje, and Pema Jangpo scored for Bhutan.
Pakistan’s goalkeeper, Sahil Gul, saved Bhutan’s sixth penalty taken by Thsering Peljang, sending his team to the final for the first time.
Pakistan will now face the winner of the match between Nepal and India in the final.
