KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Pakistan organized the Alumni Dinner 2024 for Nepal Army officers who trained in various institutions of the Pakistan Armed Forces in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Former Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Gaurav SJB Rana was the chief guest at the event, while Sri Lankan Ambassador to Nepal, Air Chief Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, an alumnus of the Pakistan Air Force Academy, was the special guest, according to a press release issued by the Embassy of Pakistan.
In his opening remarks, Col Muhammad Ali Alvi, the defense attaché at the Embassy of Pakistan, highlighted the vibrant bilateral relations between the armed forces of Nepal and Pakistan, especially in the training domain. He underscored the need for continued support by the Pakistan Armed Forces for the capacity building of the Nepal Army.
Also speaking on the occasion, former CoAS Rana recalled experiences of his stint in Pakistan and their relevance to his rise in leading the Nepal Army.
Likewise, Major General Babu Ram Shrestha, the alumnus of NDU Islamabad, conveyed greetings on behalf of the COAS of Nepal and thanked Pakistan for providing opportunities to Nepal Army officers and soldiers both in acquiring contemporary skills and filling gaps in the capacity of the army.
In his concluding remarks, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H Hashmi, said Pakistan and Nepal have strong relations based on trust and mutually beneficial collaborations between the people, governments, and armed forces.
