KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu organized a ceremony on Wednesday to present awards to the winners of the 11th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Essay Writing Competition and 7th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Speech Competition.
Prof Dr Bhola Thapa, vice chancellor of Kathmandu University, presented the awards.
The topic for the Essay Writing Competition was ‘Regional Connectivity: Essence of Economic Development and Social Uplift – Prospects for South Asian Countries’. “Students securing first, second, and third positions in the Essay Writing Competition were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with souvenirs and cash prizes. The next twelve best students also received special cash prizes,” the embassy said in a statement.
Similarly, the top three winners of the speech competition on ‘Role of Women in Economic Development of South Asia’ received medals, souvenirs, and cash prizes. The next thirteen best students also received souvenirs and cash prizes.
According to the embassy, students from 35 higher secondary schools and universities participated in the two competitions.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Thapa appreciated Pakistan for its continued support and advancement of technical assistance, especially in education. He expressed hope that Pakistan’s support would significantly contribute to nurturing the youth of both countries with a shared vision, emphasizing that educated youth benefit society as a whole.
In his concluding remarks, Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi commended the students for their critical thinking on important issues. He added, “Instilling solution-oriented and forward-looking thinking processes in students is crucial for the future. Youth interaction between the two countries is essential for enhancing bilateral ties,” he added.
The embassy has been organizing these competitions for the past many years.
