KATHMANDU: Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H Hashmi, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the Prime Minister’s official residence on Wednesday.
According to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu, the PP Oli appreciated long historical and cultural linkages between the two countries and stated that the people of the region have a common and splendid heritage. “Highlighting the contemporary challenges of climate change and shifting economic patterns, the Prime Minister underscored the need to harness digitization and demographic dividend for poverty alleviation,” the statement said. “The PM said Nepal was committed to revitalizing the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), emphasizing that despite challenges between Member States, regional cooperation should remain unaffected.”
Ambassador Hashmi thanked the Prime Minister for receiving him and conveyed the best wishes of the leadership to him and the people of Nepal. He said Pakistan was ready to play its due role including hosting the next SAARC Summit with its true spirit.
On the occasion, Ambassador Hashmi reminded PM Poli of the invitation extended by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to visit Pakistan during their meeting on the sidelines of the 79th UNGA in New York.
