KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Poudel has appointed Padma Prasad Pandey of Palpa as the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the Office of the President stated that the appointment was made as per Article 106 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal, based on the joint recommendation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Chairperson of the National Assembly.
The President also approved the resignation submitted by Pandey from the position of Secretary of the House of Representatives effective from Tuesday.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire and National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina recommended Pandey for the post on December 11.
He had been serving as the Acting General Secretary since the resignation of General Secretary Bharat Raj Gautam.
