PAC Chair Pokharel removes personal assistant following high court order

KATHMANDU: Rishikesh Pokharel, the chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives, has removed his personal assistant Anil Kumar Pokharel with immediate effect.

Chairperson Pokharel notified the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat about the decision on Friday.

“My attention has been drawn towards reports that the Morang High Court has issued an arrest warrant for Anil Kumar Pokharel who has been serving as my personal assistant. I have removed him from the position with immediate effect to facilitate investigation of charges against him,” Pokharel said, in a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

Anil Kumar had previously prevented the police from registering a complaint against him by leveraging his political influence. The high court had issued a mandamus order to investigate charges against him.
