KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force (APF) Tuesday transferred 8,488 constables to different units across the country.

Issuing a statement, the APF Headquarters said the constables were transferred to APF units of their choice. “The APF headquarters had recently asked the constables to name three units of where they wish to get transferred. Most of the constables have been transferred to their preferred unit,” it said in the statement. “Those who couldn’t be transferred to their preferred unit have been transferred to other units chosen by them.”

Likewise, the APF has also transferred constables that have been serving in units in border areas for a long time to other units.

“Likewise, couples have been transferred to the same unit as far as possible,” it said.

According to the APF, it is the first time in its history that constables have been transferred to the unit of their choice. “The headquarters believes that this will increase the morale of the lower-ranking personnel and reduce the complaints related to transfer in the future,” APF added in the statement.

The APF plans to take adopt a similar modality for the transfer of junior officers in the future, according to DSP Shailendra Thapa, the deputy spokesperson for APF.
