
KATHMANDU: A total of 514,071 examinees are appearing in this year’s Secondary Education Examination (SEE) – 49,286 more than last year.
According to the Nepal Examination Board (NEB), 2,079 examination centers have been designated across the country for the examination. In centers with up to 150 students, one assistant center chief will be appointed, while one invigilator will be assigned for every 20 students. However, centers with fewer than 75 students will not have an assistant center chief.
Examination centers have also been set up at juvenile correction centers and prisons. According to the NEB, arrangements have been made for students from two prisons in Kathmandu and Dailekh and Bhaktapur Juvenile Correction Home, to take the exams. Additionally, students from the Success HIV Education Home will also participate in this year’s SEE. Four HIV-positive students from the Kirtipur-based facility will appear in the examination.
The examinations will begin from Thursday and will continue till April 1. The exams will be conducted from 8 am to 11 am daily.
NEB is targeting a 70% pass rate this year. The pass rate stood at a mere 48% last year.
