Over 2,100 workers selected for employment in Israel

KATHMANDU: The Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) has published a list of 2,112 individuals selected to work under the long-term care system in Israel.

Gurudutta Subedi, the information officer of the DoFE, told Himal Press that they have received official information about the lottery selection process from Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA) via email.

DoFE has made public the names of workers selected through the lottery system. Israel has selected 1,156 women and 956 men, totaling 2,112 individuals,  out of 3,461 names (1,863 men and 1,595 women) forwarded by the DoFE to PIBA on August 6.

Subedi said that the DoFE would soon announce the dates for medical examinations for the selected workers and initiate the process of sending them to Israel.

The salary for Nepali caregivers in Israel is Rs 210,000. While the initial contract period is one year, it can be extended for up to five years.

The Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security is currently investigating alleged irregularities in the worker selection process, including the submission of fake documents by some institutes, according to Dutta.
