POKHARA: Over 100 runners from three countries are participating in the 1st Mountain Running Competition in Pokhara on Saturday.
According to Pokhara Click, the organizer of the event, 71 male and 33 female runners from Nepal, Brazil and the UK are participating in the event. Dinanath Baral, the coordinator of the event, said the 8-kilometer run will begin on the premises of World Peace Pagoda and pass through the Pumdikot Mahadev statue, Pokhara Ward-22 Office before ending at Buddha Park.
“There will be four different events – open, women, Pokhara-22 wise and U-16. The winner of the open category will receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000, while the first and second runners-up will take home Rs 15,000 and Rs 7,000, respectively,” Sharma said. “The winners of other events will win a cash prize of Rs 7,000 each.”
The organizers are also felicitating Kusan Gurung who registered a hattrick of wins in Mount Kinabalu Half Marathon of Malaysia with Pokhara Click Special Honor.
The event is promoted by the Pokhara Metropolitan City Office and Nepal Tourism Board.
