Online share trading platform to go offline in govt computers

KATHMANDU: A ban has been imposed on Trade Management System (TMS), an online share trading platform of the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse), across all government offices in the country.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced through a social media post on Tuesday that needful directives have been issued to ensure TMS is not operational in any ministry, commission, secretariat, or local government offices.

“Conducting private share transactions from government offices is legally unacceptable. It has adversely affected government operations and there have been complaints about its impact on public services,” he wrote. “In response to these public grievances, the government has now imposed a ban on the TMS in all government offices nationwide.”

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has also issued a circular to all government offices to ensure that TMS doesn’t work in government computers.
