KATHMANDU: CPN-UML President KP Oli and party leader Bhim Rawal met on Tuesday, marking their first interaction in nearly two years.
The two leaders, who had not engaged in any communication since the party’s general convention held in Chitwan in November 2021, met at the party headquarters in Chyasal.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Rawal said that the conversation was relatively limited due to the extended period of non-interaction. “Despite the hiatus, we managed to have a general conversation about the nation’s situation and our party’s ongoing endeavors,” he added.
The relationship between Oli and Rawal deteriorated when Rawal declared his candidacy against Oli in the election for the party chairman’s position. The discord escalated to the point that Oli denied Rawal the party’s ticket to contest the House of Representatives election in his Achham constituency.
“We have decided to hold further meetings in the future,” Rawal addded.
