Oli-led team to make common minimum program of govt

KATHMANDU: The seven-party ruling coalition has authorized the task of preparing the common minimum programs of the new government to a taskforce led by CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.

The coalition, which met at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwtar on Thursday morning, has given the taskforce five days to prepare the common minimum program.

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane told media persons that the coalition has assigned the task of preparing the common minimum program of the government to a taskforce led by Oli.

The taskforce will have representation of all seven political parties of the ruling coalition.

The meeting also held a discussion on cabinet expansion, according to Lamichhane. “The leaders discussed cabinet expansion at the center as well as the formation of government in all seven provinces,” he added.

According to Lamichhane, the meeting also decided to prioritize qualifications and capabilities while selecting ministers. “Lawmakers who have not got responsibility previously will get priority,” he added.

CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is leading the coalition government of seven parties. Along with Maoist Center, the coalition includes CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Ratriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Janata Samajbadi Party, Janamat Party and Nagarik Unmukti Party.

Maoist Center Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, UML Chairman Oli, RSP Chairman Lamichhane and RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden were present in the meeting.
