KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli held talks on Monday.
Leaders of the country’s two largest political parties met at Deuba’s residence in Maharajgunj. Oli was accompanied by UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.
This was the second meeting between Deuba and Oli since the Gen Z protests on September 8 and 9. The two had earlier met at Deuba’s residence on December 5.
According to Deuba’s secretariat, Deuba congratulated Oli on his re-election as party chairperson and wished him a successful tenure. The two leaders also discussed contemporary political issues, the secretariat said.
Although neither party disclosed details of the talks, the meeting is seen as significant as lawmakers from both parties prepare to register a supplementary writ petition at the Supreme Court in a case seeking the reinstatement of the House of Representatives.
