KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has defended the recent ordinances, stating that they were necessary to ensure good governance and promote development.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Wednesday, Oli said the five ordinances were issued after extensive consultations with senior leaders from major coalition parties, experts and stakeholders. “Our priority is not merely sustaining the government—it will sustain itself. Our responsibility is to make it successful and deliver tangible results,” Oli said. “These ordinances demonstrate the government’s commitment to good governance and development.”
He also refuted rumors suggesting discord over the ordinances among coalition partners. “There were claims that the President blocked the land-related ordinance. The reality is, it was under study, not blocked. Similarly, baseless reports about Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba opposing the ordinances have been debunked,” he added.
Oli also said that the government was preparing more laws. “Many bills will be presented during the winter session of Parliament,” he added.
