KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has accused the government of allowing the guilty to evade justice and frame the innocent in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, he urged the government to immediately stop the conspiracy of allowing the guilty to evade justice.

“I have evidence to support my claim – the culprits are attempting to flee, while innocent individuals are being targeted,” he said. “The government should refrain from interference and allow the police to conduct an impartial investigation.”

Furthermore, Oli denounced the act of trapping innocent people to fulfill the vested interest of a select few.

Expressing his lack of confidence in the current administration’s ability to combat corruption, Oli criticized the government’s policies and programs for the next fiscal year.

“The policies and programs failed to address the issue of conducting investigations against those encroaching upon government land,” he said. “Did the Prime Minister switch coalition for this very reason?”

Oli stressed the need to investigate all scams and irregularities. “Lalita Niwas, Matatirtha and Dhobikhola land scams, irregularities by Omni, embezzlement of funds release for Maoist combatants, widebody procurement and Sardu reservoir all should be investigated. Why can’t this government pledge to promptly investigate these cases?” Oli questioned. “Let’s assure the people that the corrupt will eventually face justice.”
