Oli cabinet approves major upgrades for TU Cricket Ground

KATHMANDU: The new cabinet of KP Sharma Oli has decided to upgrade the TU International Cricket Ground into a world-class cricket stadium with modern amenities.

Oli announced through a post on social media platform X that the cabinet has decided to construct parapets and install floodlights for night matches, among other infrastructure improvements, at the cricket ground within 300 days.

Two other international cricket stadiums are also under construction – one in Mulpani, Kathmandu, and another in Bharatpur, Chitwan. Additionally, a privately owned facility, the Extratech Oval, is being built in Rupandehi.

Likewise, the cabinet has decided to appoint Officiating Chief Secretary Lila Devi Gadtaula as the Acting Chief Secretary. She had been serving as the Officiating Chief Secretary since the suspension of Chief Secretary Dr Baikuntha Aryal after a corruption case was lodged against him.

Similarly, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has been appointed as the Government Spokesperson.

“People, who go missing during disaster incidents and remain unaccounted for after 10 days, will now be eligible for relief equivalent to that provided for confirmed fatalities,” Minister Gurung said after the meeting.
