KATHMANDU: The Nepal Student Union (NSU) has submitted a 25-point memorandum to Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, demanding that at least 20% of the annual budget be allocated to the education sector.

A delegation of the NSU, led by President Dujang Sherpa, on Monday met with Minister for Finance Bishnu Poudel and called for the allocation of sufficient funds to effectively implement a student-friendly School Education Act within the current fiscal year.

Additionally, Sherpa highlighted the need for policies to control inflation and provide subsidies on essential goods that directly affect students.

The NSU, the student wing of the ruling coalition partner Nepali Congress (NC), also requested the government to formulate policies for mandatory technical training for youth under 40 to create domestic employment opportunities and reduce the need for foreign migration for work.
