JANAKPUR: Janakpur Bolts, the champions of the inaugural edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), held a trophy parade in Janakpur on Friday to celebrate its victory.
The parade was organized to mark the team’s triumph and featured players, officials from the Madhesh Province Cricket Association, members of civil society, and cricket enthusiasts.
Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh also attended the trophy parade.
Starting from the Ram-Janaki International Stadium in Rajoul, Janakpurdham-14, the parade passed through Thapa Chowk, Pidari Chowk, Ramananda Chowk, Zero Mile, Bishwakarma Chowk, and Ram Chowk before concluding at the Janaki Temple premises. Hundreds of locals joined the parade, which showcased Janakpur Bolts’ players and managers riding in vehicles, receiving warm welcomes from residents along the route.
The management of Janakpur Bolts plans to take the trophy parade across all eight districts of Madhesh Province. After Dhanusha, parades will be held in Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, and Parsa, according to Executive Director Janakpur Bolts, Niraj Khatri. The parade will then continue to the eastern districts of Siraha, Saptari before concluding Janakpur, Khatri added.
Captain Anil Kumar Sah, along with players like Aasif Sheikh and Lalit Rajbanshi, arrived in Janakpur on Thursday night to participate in the parade.
Janakpur Bolts clinched the NPL title at the Kirtipur Cricket Ground on December 21, defeating Sudurpaschim Royals by five wickets in a thrilling final.
