No Nepali citizen working as contract soldiers: MoFA

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has clarified that no Nepali national is serving in the army of countries except those that have signed an agreement with Nepal.

Issuing a statement on Tuesday to refute news reports about Nepali citizens serving in the army of various countries, the ministry said while some Nepali citizens are recruited into the national army of certain friendly countries based on traditional agreements, there is no government policy regarding recruitment of Nepali nationals in the army of other countries.

The ministry has also urged Nepali citizens not to engage in security-related work in war-torn countries based on false information or under the influence of others.
