No leader has spoken about an alternative to current leadership: Sapkota

KATHMANDU: A majority of members at the ongoing Standing Committee meeting of the CPN (Maoist Center) have emphasized the need to strengthen and consolidate the party leadership.

Maoist Center Vice Chairperson and Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota told reporters after the meeting that none of the members, who spoke on Sunday, proposed an alternative to Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

The Standing Committee meeting, which began on Friday, will continue on Monday as well.

“No one has spoken about replacing the current leadership. Most Standing Committee members expressed the view that this is not the right time to seek an alternative,” Sapkota said. “Even Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma did not comment much on the issue of leadership. Everyone emphasised the need to strengthen and reinforce the existing leadership.”

Sapkota said most members and office-bearers have already shared their views. “Senior Vice Chairperson, General Secretary and Chairperson Dahal are expected to speak on Monday,” Sapkota added.
