JANAKPURDHAM: Senior Vice Chairman of CPN-UML, Ishwar Pokharel, has hinted that the ruling coalition is on the verge of collapse.

During the inauguration of the ‘Mission Grassroots’ campaign in Janakpurdham on Friday, Pokharel stated that the UML would not compromise on the understanding that was reached with its coalition partners regarding the presidential election. “The elections for the President and Vice President will be held in accordance with the understanding that was reached among the coalition parties. Only then will we be able to talk about national consensus,” he added.

Pokharel emphasized that if the understanding on the posts of President and Vice President is breached, the UML will move onto a new chapter.

UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli also expressed his fears about the coalition’s future a few days ago.

The UML is organizing the ‘Mission Grassroots’ campaign nationwide to strengthen its party organization.

UML Secretary Raghubir Mahaseth said that the campaign was launched to secure at least 51% of votes in the upcoming elections by strengthening the party’s organization.
