KATHMANDU: The Special Court has scheduled the next hearing for July 29 in the Patanjali land scam case involving former Prime Minister and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a corruption case naming Nepal as one of the accused in connection with the irregular transfer of government land to Patanjali. On June 5, the constitutional anti-graft body filed charges against 94 individuals, including the former prime minister, for allowing Patanjali to sell land, exceeding the land-holding limit, meant for industrial purposes.
Nepal appeared before the court for the detention hearing on Wednesday. After recording his statement and completing the detention hearing, the Special Court ordered his release on bail of Rs 3.5 million.
