KATHMANDU: Newly-elected President Ram Chandra Poudel is scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy on Monday.
The Office of the President is organizing the swearing-in ceremony at 1 pm, according to Bheshraj Adhikari, Chief Personal Secretary of outgoing President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
As per the Constitution of Nepal, 2015, the President must be sworn in by the Chief Justice. Acting Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Poudel.
Poudel, a senior leader of the Nepali Congress, was elected as President on March 9. He defeated Subash Chandra Nembang of the CPN-UML party.
He will become Nepal’s third President, following Dr Ram Baran Yadav and Bidya Devi Bhandari. Bhandari served two consecutive terms.
