KATHMANDU: The newly appointed Chairperson of the Securities Board of Nepal (Sebon), Santosh Narayan Shrestha, has taken the oath of office and secrecy.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Shrestha amid a ceremony at the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.
A cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to appoint Shrestha to the position.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Paudel claimed that the government selected the Sebon chairperson through a legally compliant, open and competitive process. He expressed confidence that the new chairperson would institutionally address all existing challenges in the capital market. Paudel also believed that Shrestha would work to ensure the organized development of the capital market.
Shrestha said he was committed to transforming existing challenges in the capital market into opportunities.
